Flying Corridors Bridge the Way—The Scenic Corridor Bridges at the Jiangsu Garden Expo Park Have Been Successfully Installed!

Vague green hills and shimmering waters—autumn’s end paints Jiangnan in a riot of colors. Within the Jiangsu Garden Expo Park, every season is a beautiful time. “Forever in Bloom” is the park’s vision, and since this year 4 Since its opening last month, the Garden Expo Park has emerged as a new landmark and a popular social-media hotspot in Nanjing. What was once a mined valley—a scar on the landscape—has now transformed into a world-class mountain garden complex that seamlessly integrates Chinese architectural culture, landscape gardening, and cultural tourism.

Following last year’s successful completion of the steel structure works for the park’s boutique hotels, urban pavilions, and preliminary supporting facilities, the company has recently embarked on the next phase of ancillary projects: the installation of the steel structure for the aerial walkway connecting the Garden Expo Park scenic area with the Yangshan Stone Carving Site.

This project encompasses the steel structure of the vertical elevator shaft and the steel structure of the sky bridge. The primary challenge lies in the installation of the sky bridge, which is a large-span steel truss structure with a span of 63 The beam has one end anchored at the mountaintop foundation and the other end supported at the valley-floor elevation. 62 on the top support of the elevator shaft at Migaos. Given that the construction site itself is situated on a narrow, gentle slope—with one side abutting a mountain and the other facing the slope—the available space is extremely limited, making conventional full-unit truss lifting impractical. After multiple design alternatives were evaluated, the project team settled on the approach of “lifting each individual truss as a whole and connecting the top and bottom chords at height.” However, since each individual truss weighs 55t Moreover, the existing steel structure of the elevator shaft and the construction tower crane both impose spatial constraints on the selection of the main lifting crane; consequently, the final design opted for 600t Crawler crane, 90 Super-lifting condition of the main boom.

Throughout the entire construction process, the project team successively overcame challenges such as the mobilization of large crawler cranes and aerial pole splicing, deformation control during the assembly and lifting of long-span trusses, and the operation of large crawler cranes in narrow valley terrain. 310 Despite challenging construction conditions such as slewing and over-erection operations under load, the project was completed smoothly and successfully. Following the completion of the steel structure work, the project team will proceed with the curtain wall installation and aims to finish the entire project before the Spring Festival.

Upon completion, the connecting passage for this project will become another new landmark of the Garden Expo Park, seamlessly linking and allowing free transitions between the two adjacent scenic areas. At the foot of the mountain, the magnificent panorama of “Splendid Jiangsu” stretches out in endless splendor; atop the hill, the awe-inspiring grandeur of the Yangshan Monument Quarry resonates with profound weight and solemnity. From the summit, one can take in a meticulously arranged urban landscape: Nanjing Garden’s “Jingyang Tower” stands tall by the cliff, overlooking six dynasties shrouded in mist and rain; while the massive Yangshan Monument Stones lie horizontally, quietly bearing witness to the vicissitudes of the Ming Dynasty. Just as “Nanjing Time,” an adaptive reuse of industrial heritage nestled in the valley, embodies Nanjing’s past, present, and future, here visitors can reflect on the ever-changing flow of time and savor the enduring charm of Jiangnan’s cultural elegance.
