The steel structure of the Section Assembly and Welding Workshop (Phase II, Stage A) for the Shanghai CSSC Changxing Phase II Project’s Capacity Gap-Filling Initiative Has Been Successfully Topped Out.
At 9:18 a.m. on July 10, with the final steel girder precisely positioned, the main structure of the Section Assembly and Welding Workshop (Phase II, Section A) for the Capacity-Enhancement Project at Shanghai CSSC Changxing Shipbuilding’s Phase II facility was officially topped out.
The project is located within the shipbuilding base on Changxing Island in Chongming District, Shanghai, with a total floor area of 15,120 square meters, one above-ground story, and a roof height of 37.9 meters. As a renovation and expansion project, it adds an additional bay to the existing factory building, extending the new construction to a total length of 336 meters with a span of 45 meters. Upon completion, the project will further streamline the shipbuilding process, eliminate production bottlenecks, and systematically enhance the production capacity of the block assembly and welding workshop.
The Phase II project of the Changxing Shipbuilding Base has been designated by the National Development and Reform Commission as a major construction project. It represents another landmark initiative for optimizing the spatial layout and structural adjustment of Shanghai-based shipbuilding enterprises, facilitating their transformation and upgrading, and for thoroughly implementing national strategies such as building China into a strong maritime nation, a strong science and technology nation, and the Made in China 2025 initiative—thereby promoting the high-quality development of China’s shipbuilding and offshore engineering industry.
Since the commencement of construction, the project team has meticulously organized and scientifically scheduled operations, continuously optimizing the construction plan in real time and dynamically adjusting the sequencing of work processes to ensure that all performance indicators are met and quality remains under control. Moving forward, the team will remain committed to an efficient and pragmatic work ethic, maintaining strong focus on schedule, safety, and quality to deliver on its commitment to high-quality project execution through concrete actions.
