The inaugural expert meeting of the Fire Protection and Anti-Corrosion Branch of the China Steel Structure Association, along with a symposium on the future development of high-quality steel, was successfully held at Dadi Steel Structure.
On the morning of June 20, the inaugural expert panel meeting of the Fire Protection and Anti-Corrosion Branch of the China Steel Structure Association was successfully held at Dadi Steel Structure. Concurrently, Dadi Steel Structure, in collaboration with the branch, hosted a symposium on “The Future Development of Precision-Processed Steel.” The event brought together expert representatives from design institutes, steel structure manufacturers, coating producers, project owners, and other stakeholders to jointly discuss the current status and future prospects of exposed steel structures and the application of precision-processed steel in architectural steel structures.
The first phase of the conference was the working meeting of the Expert Committee of the Fire Protection and Anti-Corrosion Branch of the China Steel Structure Association. Li Guoqiang, Chairman of the Fire Protection and Anti-Corrosion Branch of the China Steel Structure Association and Professor at Tongji University Opening Remarks. Luo Mingwen, Deputy General Manager and Chief Engineer of Dadi Steel Structure, delivered a welcome address to the attending leaders and experts.
Zhou Jian, Chief Structural Engineer at the East China Architectural Design and Research Institute The draft Regulations on the Work of the Expert Panel of the Fire Protection and Anti-Corrosion Branch of the China Steel Structure Association was read out. During the meeting, Professor Li Guoqiang presented a letter of appointment to Zhou Jian, head of the Expert Panel on “Quality Assurance for Steel Structure Coating.”
The second phase is the “Future Development of Refined Steel” symposium, Zhou Jian, Chief Structural Engineer at the East China Architectural Design Institute, and Li Gang, Head of Structural Engineering for the East China Region at China Resources Land Holdings Limited Delivered keynote speeches titled “Exploring Technical Approaches to Achieving High-Quality Aesthetic Appearance in Steel Structures” and “Practical Insights into Exposed Steel Structures.”
The presentations by the two guests brought diverse professional insights and valuable takeaways to the event. Experts in attendance engaged in lively discussions on core topics such as standards and specifications, engineering applications, quality management, and cutting-edge technologies, addressing key concerns of stakeholders—including owners, designers, and contractors—as well as the challenges and pain points encountered in project implementation.
Pei Chuanfei, Chairman of Dadi Steel Structure He stated that this discussion has deepened everyone’s understanding of the current status and pain points of refined steel, while also highlighting its significant development potential. Over the past three decades and more, the company has gradually established a business model centered on steel structures, with general contracting and architectural curtain walls developing in tandem. Moving forward, the company will continue to pursue a “steel structure + N” business development approach, adhere to a product differentiation strategy, and maintain a steady, incremental pace of growth. He emphasized the importance of adopting systems thinking, taking a holistic, overarching perspective, building consensus across all stakeholders, and jointly promoting the healthy development of exposed steel structures and refined steel. Finally, Pei Chuanfei once again expressed his sincere gratitude to the association’s leadership and all the experts for their attendance.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Professor Li Guoqiang To conclude this event, he stated that refined steel epitomizes high-quality exposed steel structures; while it is widely used in curtain wall applications, it remains relatively novel in the field of architectural steel structures. Looking ahead, two key directions should be prioritized: first, emphasize product quality and performance to expand application areas; second, clearly define product positioning to tap into niche markets. The sub-association will establish a third-party evaluation system for both products and construction firms’ capabilities through a coating quality assurance framework, and will leverage standards-driven initiatives and technological upgrades to pool the collective wisdom and strength of all stakeholders.
From expert analyses of the current state and future trends in the industry to focused discussions on key areas, this conference has provided invaluable opportunities for intellectual exchange and practical insights, thereby advancing innovative development across the sector.
