Every Second Counts: Zone A of the Guiyang Airport Roofing Project Officially Completes Water-Tightness Testing

On November 30, 2020, the roof waterproofing test for Area A of Terminal 3 at Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport was successfully completed, 12 days ahead of schedule as mandated by the Project Command. Leaders of the Phase III Expansion Project Command, representatives from various departments, and senior executives from Dadi Steel Structure jointly attended the waterproofing test ceremony.

Areas A1–A6 consist of finger piers and connecting corridors, with a total area of 38,000 square meters. The scope includes bulk construction-layer materials such as steel, aluminum-zinc coated sheet, vapor barrier film, thermal insulation rock wool, polyurethane rock wool, TPO roofing membrane, stainless steel roof gutters, honeycomb aluminum panels, and aluminum-manganese-magnesium alloy panels, totaling 226,600 square meters of installed material area.

The area is divided into six sub-zones, with work-face handovers conducted in phased segments from July 24 to October 12. The northern side is affected by apron construction in the airfield area, while the southern side is impacted by the construction access route for Gate No. 1 and the EPC elevated bridge. In addition, since the tower crane is installed inside the building and will be dismantled immediately upon completion of the structural works, this poses challenges for our company’s large-scale construction activities and accelerated schedule.

To achieve the construction schedule targets set by the Command Headquarters, our company has implemented the following measures:
Key projects plus a high-performing team. As our company’s No. 1 project, we have assembled a robust project leadership team headed by the Executive Vice President, while also establishing an expedited approval channel to handle special matters on a case-by-case basis, thereby providing organizational assurance for the project’s effective advancement.
With materials in place, we are accelerating the construction schedule. We have procured large quantities of steel in advance for prefabrication and custom-built two roll-forming machines on site to expedite plate fabrication. We have also stockpiled bulk structural-layer materials to ensure that each work area is handed over today and construction commences tomorrow.
Truck-mounted cranes and mobile cranes ensure vertical transportation. To address both vertical and horizontal transport needs, we have deployed a sufficient number of truck-mounted and mobile cranes, fully supporting the project’s progress.
Adjust work schedules flexibly to maintain an appropriate construction pace. To mitigate the impact of adverse weather conditions and other factors, adopt flexible working hours and extend the overall work duration accordingly.
We have an ample labor force with highly experienced construction personnel. Given the project’s zoned layout, it is necessary to adjust job types and staffing levels on an ongoing basis according to site conditions; our company has therefore assembled a large pool of seasoned construction workers.

With the care and support of the Command Center leadership and the Terminal Building Engineering Department, as well as the close collaboration of the general contractor, the supervision unit, and our partner organizations, the roof waterproofing test for Area A was successfully completed on November 30—12 days ahead of the Command Center’s target. As the construction contractor, our company will continue to deliver all work to the highest standards of quality and quantity, striving to establish this project as a new benchmark that sets industry standards, showcases our capabilities, and exemplifies superior quality, thereby presenting the people of Guizhou with a truly satisfactory outcome.
Area A of Guiyang Airport has successfully completed the water-tightness test, 12 days ahead of the command center’s deadline.
