Construction of the Water Park and Centralized Hotel Facade at Tonglu Kaiyuan Senbo Tourism Resort is Accelerating
Recently, the curtain wall project for the exterior facades of the water park and the centralized hotel—key projects within the Tonglu Kaiyuan Senbo Tourism Resort developed by our company—is progressing efficiently and in an orderly manner.
The project is located in the core eco-tourism zone along the Fuchun River in Tonglu, Hangzhou, with a total construction area of approximately 66,000 square meters and a curtain wall area of about 40,000 square meters. Our company is primarily responsible for the curtain wall works for the hotel, reception hall, water park, and other related sections. The main curtain wall types include aluminum panel curtain walls, glass curtain walls, GRC curtain walls, aluminum alloy doors and windows, canopies, skylights, and glass railings, with the eave elevation reaching 30.9 meters.
The aluminum alloy window frame has a maximum width of 6.7 meters and a maximum height of 4.3 meters, with a weight of approximately 120 kilograms, and is fitted with double-silver ultra-clear tempered glass. The largest specification for door and window glazing is 2.3 by 2.78 meters, weighing about 340 kilograms. The curtain wall system is a framed glass curtain wall, with a maximum panel size of 1.7 by 8.5 meters and a weight of roughly 850 kilograms.
The design adheres to the philosophy of “natural growth, green and organic,” incorporating a terraced setback layout that seamlessly integrates with the riverfront setting. The water park spans two floors above ground and is themed around Polynesian island charm, with a transparent dome that evokes the sunny, tropical ambiance of an idyllic island. The centralized hotel rises six stories and draws inspiration from “mushroom mycelium” to create a whimsical, fairytale-like space.
Key and difficult points of construction:
1. Fabrication and Installation of Large-Size GRC Panels
GRC is a new type of curtain wall material. To ensure the overall aesthetic integrity of the facade, the panel sizes are relatively large, typically around 6 square meters each. Moreover, both the mullions and panels are prefabricated in the factory in a single operation, which places stringent requirements on mullion layout and fabrication accuracy.
Large-format panels are difficult to protect during transportation and impose specific dimensional requirements on transport vehicles.
2. Interconnection and Integration of Multi-System, Heterogeneous Nodes
During construction, technical optimization and refinement were carried out through pilot sections to achieve a seamless connection between the GRC elements and the curved aluminum panels of the balcony.
Both the balcony aluminum panels and the glass balustrades feature irregular curved surfaces, making seamless integration between systems challenging. Through multiple prototype trials, iterative adjustments, technical coordination, and close collaboration with various manufacturers, we ultimately achieved a seamless fusion of diverse, complex components, thereby realizing the intended design outcome.
