Steel Structure of the Shanghai Jinqiao Jinwan New Materials Industrial Park Project Successfully Tops Out
At 1:18 p.m. on April 15, with the final steel girder precisely installed in place, the Shanghai Jinqiao Jinwan New Materials Industrial Park project successfully achieved topping out of its main structural framework.
The Jinqiao Jinwan New Materials Industrial Park project is located in the core area of Jinwan in Shanghai’s Pudong New Area, adjacent to Caojiagou and the urban waterfront greenbelt. It serves as a key node along the “one core, four nuclei” ecological landscape axis and is a major hub for the new materials and greater health industries in Jinwan.
The project covers a land area of 21,700 square meters and has a total floor area of 95,900 square meters. It comprises three high-rise R&D buildings (Buildings 1–3) and three multi-story R&D buildings (Buildings 4–8), connected by four steel-structure skybridges. Notably, the cantilevered beams in Buildings 1, 2, and 3 have a cantilever span of 6.7 meters.
The project’s total steel consumption is approximately 14,000 tonnes, with the largest single structure requiring 4,671 tonnes of steel. The largest box-section dimensions are 1,150 × 1,150 × 50 × 50, and the maximum plate thickness is 50 mm. Integrating industrial innovation, low-carbon ecology, cultural vitality, and sustainable mobility, the project is dedicated to developing a healthy, smart, zero-carbon campus that is low-carbon, perceptible, interactive, and capable of “thinking.”
During construction, the site was tightly constrained, with a large variety of materials and equipment, and complex concurrent operations across multiple disciplines, all of which significantly increased the difficulty of the work. In response to these challenges, the project team engaged in proactive planning and strategic layout, adopting a zoned lifting approach and meticulously optimizing the installation and lifting sequence. As a result, they successfully overcame the technical hurdles, smoothly achieved key milestone targets, and laid a solid foundation for subsequent construction activities.
The project team will continue to sound the clarion call for vigorous and accelerated progress, maintaining a strong sense of responsibility and mission at all times. By delivering high-quality performance in contract fulfillment, we will enhance the company’s brand image, contribute to the development of a modern, environmentally friendly R&D park, and help drive the growth of Shanghai’s new materials industry.
