The first shipment of steel components for Kuching Convention Centre Phase-2 has safely arrived at the Malaysian jobsite, marking the project’s transition from factory fabrication to on-site erection preparation. It underscores the company’s ongoing footprint in Malaysia and its full-chain “fabrication-plus-installation”
Located beside the Sarawak River in Kuching, Sarawak, the 88,000-sq-m complex comprises a three-storey convention hall, a six-storey parking building and auxiliary works, with a maximum height of 23.2 metres. Serving as the main venue for the 2028 World Water Congress, it will boost local convention-hosting capacity and foster regional economic, tourism and international water-sector exchanges. Built with circular hollow sections and H-beams, the oval-shaped venue features truss roofs, polygonal H-beam assemblies, curved corner profiles and tree-style exterior support frames.
To tackle complex curved-profile fabrication, hot- and cold-bending techniques were deployed to minimise dimensional deviations. For coastal high-salinity corrosion resistance, all components went through shot-blasting and multi-layer coating, with digital thickness inspection for tropical-climate durability.
Components were securely packed in 40-foot high-cube containers with custom metal boxes for loose hardware. Pre-shipment label verification ensured traceability, and the consignment passed site acceptance with intact coatings after long-haul transit.
Subsequent batches are in production in delivery sequence. Through end-to-end quality control, the firm delivers on its commitment to premium international exhibition-venue projects.
