Thirty Years of Steadfast Progress Through Trials and Tribulations, Continuously Enhancing Capabilities | Dadi Steel Structure Holds Project Observation and Management Exchange Event
On May 25, 2024, the company’s project observation and management exchange event was held as scheduled in Shanghai, marking one of the series of activities celebrating the 30th anniversary of Dadi Steel Structure. More than 50 participants attended the event, including Dadi Steel Structure Chairman Pei Chuanfei, General Manager Fang Shunsheng, Deputy General Managers Luo Mingwen and Wang Chunfeng, heads of relevant functional departments, and project managers.
The event is divided into two parts: on-site observation and conference exchanges.
In the morning, the project managers in attendance visited the Jinding 16-01 site. Located in Jinqiao Town, Pudong New Area, the project has a total floor area of approximately 240,000 square meters and comprises two 18- to 20-story office towers, a four-story commercial podium, and a two-story bus hub, with a total steel consumption of about 21,000 metric tons. The project serves as a pivotal transportation hub for intermodal transfers, and upon completion will become a new commercial landmark in the Jinding area.
Currently, construction of the two tower buildings has been completed, and structural installation for the podium and bus hub is underway. The project team presented the project’s engineering characteristics, performance in contract fulfillment, achievements in quality improvement, as well as specific measures and practices in areas such as safe and civilized construction and quality management, sparking lively discussion and exchange among attendees. Subsequently, the site visitors toured the construction site and engaged in on-site discussions.
The afternoon project management exchange meeting was chaired by Deputy General Manager Luo Mingwen, during which representatives from several functional departments and project managers delivered remarks. Participants shared their practical experiences in areas such as technical management, quality management, the successful delivery of large-scale projects, business practices, regionalized project management, project planning, and safety and civilized construction. Throughout the session, leaders in charge of various systems provided immediate feedback, while department heads engaged in interactive discussions on management practices and identified avenues for improving managerial effectiveness.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Pei Chuanfei commended everyone for their pragmatic approach to project management, their thoughtful reflections on management practices, and their comprehensive summaries. He then shared his own insights on project management and outlined four key requirements for ensuring successful project delivery: First, project management must be approached from three perspectives—holistic thinking, systems thinking, and full-lifecycle thinking. Second, we must adhere to the principle of “putting into practice whatever we understand,” promptly addressing our shortcomings, enhancing our ability to respond to emergencies, and rigorously managing risk boundaries. Third, we must firmly embrace the philosophy that “the worksite is the market” and deliver services with dedication and a down-to-earth attitude. Fourth, we should set objectives based on accountability, use those objectives to guide performance evaluations, and leverage evaluations to ensure effective implementation.
Fang Shunsheng reviewed the series of technological innovations and management improvements the company has implemented since last year’s project observation and exchange event, while acknowledging the progress made and also analyzing the remaining shortcomings. He emphasized that, in light of the current economic environment, we must maintain strategic composure, strive for continuous improvement in our work, deliver excellence on every project, manage construction sites effectively, and thereby secure market success. He further stated that it is essential to solidly strengthen our core competencies, cultivate learning ability, innovation capacity, and interpersonal skills, and outlined several specific management requirements for the company under the present circumstances.
This observation and exchange conference serves as a platform for sharing and disseminating insights from several of the company’s key projects and management practices over the past year. It also represents a concentrated showcase and opportunity for advancing the company’s efforts to standardize operations in areas such as technology, safety, and quality—thereby reinforcing our commitment to continuously enhancing project delivery capabilities and elevating project management expertise. Through ongoing improvement and a dedication to craftsmanship, we will leverage this event as a catalyst to further shift our mindset, broaden our thinking, and foster a culture of continuous learning. In doing so, we will effectively integrate outstanding outcomes from project practice into our standardized management systems and apply them to the day-to-day execution of project construction and management. By driving both operational excellence and managerial refinement, we will collectively elevate the overall level of project management across the organization.
