Successful Elevation of a Large-Span Space Truss | Supporting the Industry’s First “Lighthouse Factory”

On December 5, with representatives from all parties in attendance, the large-span spherical space frame for Zone 3 of the packaging workshop in the Intelligent Packaging Center Technical Renovation Project of Luzhou Laojiao—whose design-and-construction general contracting was undertaken by Dadi Steel Structure—was successfully lifted into place.

This project is one of Luzhou City’s key initiatives, with a total construction area of approximately 181,400 square meters. Upon completion, it will integrate baijiu production, storage, packaging, warehousing, and logistics distribution, further enhancing production efficiency and becoming the baijiu industry’s first “Lighthouse Factory.”

The spherical space frame in Zone 3 of this project covers an area of 12,000 square meters, with a total lifting weight of 462 tons and a maximum span of 89.7 meters.

A full-lift installation method is employed for the large-span spherical space frame, involving unit-by-unit assembly on the ground, with 28 lifting points and the use of 112 electric hoists to achieve synchronous, coordinated lifting.

To ensure the successful completion of the overall incremental lifting operation for the large-span spherical space frame in Zone 3 of the packaging workshop, the project management team conducted advance planning based on the project’s structural characteristics and site conditions, repeatedly simulated the specialized lifting construction plan, continuously optimized all construction procedures, and successfully passed the review meeting for the construction plan.

Despite the impact of the pandemic on construction, the team completed the entire process for the spherical space frame—ranging from detailed design development and component fabrication to assembly and lifting—in just 41 days, seven days ahead of schedule.

The successful lifting of this single-space grid structure has laid a solid foundation for the subsequent implementation of work in Zone 4. The smooth progress of the project has earned high praise from the owner, the general contractor, and other relevant stakeholders, marking a significant step toward the anticipated commissioning of the “Lighthouse Factory.”
