A major milestone was achieved on Oct 23 at 9:28 am, when the steel structure of the podium building in Sanya's Helian Central Business District reached its successful topping out.

The project stands as a cornerstone of Hainan, strategically located in Sanya's Phoenix Coast business district. Spanning 49.43 acres, it encompasses a sprawling total floor area of 168,700 square meters. The development consists of a 27-storey, 120-metre tower dedicated to commercial offices and a four-storey podium for commercial activities. With an investment of around 3.36 billion yuan, it is set to be completed by 2024.

The meticulous engineering work on the steel structure and curtain wall has been entrusted to Dadi Steel Structure. Their expertise ensures seamless coordination and management throughout these specialized construction processes.

The commercial podium's primary structure, characterized by its steel composition, stretches more than 300 meters along the coast in a longitudinal rectangular shape. Featuring a remarkable maximum span of 23 meters, individual components weigh up to 35 tons. The curtain wall design, prevalent in both the podium and tower, showcases concealed vertical and horizontal glass-framed walls, covering approximately 40,000 square meters and 21,215 square meters, respectively.

The ambitious project aims to establish itself as an international regional headquarters, a hub for economic and central business activities, and a prime destination for international tourism consumption in Sanya. It was envisioned to offer top-notch office space that would attract leading businesses to the heart of the business district.

The construction journey has already encountered challenges, with the project team adroitly adapting to Hainan's seasonal characteristics. They devised contingency plans in advance and adapted to a variety of conditions including sandstorms, rainy seasons, high temperatures, tight schedules and complex construction landscapes. Despite these hurdles, safety and quality remained paramount throughout the rigorous schedule.

In line with the COVID-19 protocol, Sanya implemented comprehensive measures in August 2022, affecting the project site.  Adherence to local policies, the implementation of closed-off management for construction and residential areas, and robust epidemic prevention mechanisms enabled the team to navigate through the peak of the outbreak after a relentless effort spanning more than two months.

The successful topping out of the structural framework of the podium paved the way for the curtain wall construction that followed.
