Kenneth Kaunda International Airport Project in Zambia


Construction Location: Lusaka, Zambia

Gross floor area: 65,800 square meters

Steel consumption: 6,600 tons

Project Overview: The project primarily encompasses the steel structure for the “room-within-a-room” section, the main structural steel frame, the curved external steel beams, the roof load-bearing space truss, the jet bridge steel structure, and the roofing works. Upon commissioning of the new terminal, Kenneth Kaunda International Airport will be upgraded to an international Class 4E airport, capable of handling long-range wide-body aircraft such as Boeing and Airbus models, and is expected to become a major aviation hub in Southern Africa. The maximum span of the terminal’s roof space truss is approximately 90 meters.
