New Shanghai East Railway Station Project | The First Steel Box Girder Successful Hoisting
(Summary description)On December 1st, at the SHDDSSG-1 Section site of the New Shanghai East Railway Station Collection and Distribution Road Project (Phase II of the Shanghai-Nantong Railway) in the East Hub, a 8.7-meter-long, 36-ton steel box girder was precisely hoisted into place by a 500-ton truck crane. This milestone completes the project’s first steel box girder hoisting and kicks off the upper bridge structure construction phase. The project covers the north system’s main line and ramps, including a 544-meter main bridge and three ramps totaling 666 meters. The heaviest single steel box girder weighs 72 tons and spans 22 meters, requiring an 800-ton truck crane for lifting.Confronted with complex site conditions and high technical demands, the construction faced multiple challenges: advancing steel structure work without disrupting main transport routes, coordinating cross-professional operations, handling ultra-long/wide/heavy components, managing complex spatial relationships from vertical superposition of ramps and the main bridge, and controlling millimeter-level cumulative errors during installation and welding. The project team prepared thoroughly via multiple special plan demonstrations, optimizing key links like machinery selection, support frame arrangement, and hoisting processes, plus conducting simulation drills.Building on this success, the team will sustain momentum to meet milestones, ensure efficient and timely project completion, and support the regional transportation hub’s functional upgrade.

This milestone completes the project’s first steel box girder hoisting and kicks off the upper bridge structure construction phase.
The project covers the north system’s main line and ramps, including a 544-meter main bridge and three ramps totaling 666 meters. The heaviest single steel box girder weighs 72 tons and spans 22 meters, requiring an 800-ton truck crane for lifting.

Confronted with complex site conditions and high technical demands, the construction faced multiple challenges: advancing steel structure work without disrupting main transport routes, coordinating cross-professional operations, handling ultra-long/wide/heavy components, managing complex spatial relationships from vertical superposition of ramps and the main bridge, and controlling millimeter-level cumulative errors during installation and welding.

The project team prepared thoroughly via multiple special plan demonstrations, optimizing key links like machinery selection, support frame arrangement, and hoisting processes, plus conducting simulation drills.
Building on this success, the team will sustain momentum to meet milestones, ensure efficient and timely project completion, and support the regional transportation hub’s functional upgrade.
