(Summary description)At 10:18 a.m. on March 20, the first steel column of the Block Assembly Workshop (Phase II-A) at the CSSC Changxing Phase II Capacity Enhancement Project was successfully hoisted, marking the start of the main structural construction.Located at the Changxing Island Shipbuilding Base in Shanghai, the workshop covers 15,120 square meters, with a roof height of 37.9 meters. As an expansion project, it adds one new bay to the existing facility, with a total new length of 336 meters and a span of 45 meters. The steel structure weighs approximately 3,027 tons.Upon completion, the project will streamline the shipbuilding process, remove production bottlenecks, and significantly boost block assembly capacity. It will also support the base’s shift toward intelligent and green manufacturing.Launched in January 2021 with a total investment of RMB 18 billion, 4.32 million square meters, Changxing Phase II is a key national and municipal project and a major step in advancing China’s maritime, technological, and manufacturing strategies.The project team will continue to uphold high standards and efficient construction to contribute to building a world-class marine equipment base.
