In a significant development, the R&D office area construction project at Shanghai CSSC Changxing Shipyard Phase II Headquarters Relocation Project reached a milestone as the steel structure hoisting was successfully completed at 9:18 am on October 19. This achievement signifies a crucial advancement in the main structure construction of the project.

Situated within the expansive Shanghai CSSC Changxing Shipyard Phase II on the south bank of Changxing Island, Chongming District, Shanghai, the project boasts a total construction area of 73,378 square meters. The above-ground area covers 69,038 square meters, complemented by an underground area spanning 4,340 square meters. Embracing a steel frame structure, the project encompasses diverse buildings such as a comprehensive office building, an R&D design building, a shipowner and ship inspection building, a testing and commissioning building, a reception center, and supporting facilities. As an integral component of the relocation of Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (CSSC Hudong-Zhonghua), the project plays a pivotal role in housing functions like R & D, design, meetings, exhibitions, reception, and management-serving as the central "Brain" and "Hub" of the new base.

The relocation initiative for CSSC Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding-Changxing Shipyard Phase II project commenced on January 4, 2021, along the southern coastline of Changxing Island in Shanghai. With a substantial investment of 18 billion RMB, the project has been designated a major national construction endeavor by the National Development and Reform Commission(NDRC). The first phase alone spans 214.6 hectares, with a planned investment of 8 billion RMB. Upon completion, CSSC Hudong-Zhonghua is set to achieve an annual production capacity of building six special-purpose vessels at this strategic location.

The relocation of Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding, with a history spanning over 90 years, symbolizes a transformation and upgrade of Shanghai's manufacturing industry. It also stands as a landmark project propelling the high-quality development of China's shipbuilding and marine engineering sector.
